Social Development through Early Childhood Education (ECE) (building friendships, etc.)
Social Development in Early Childhood Education
Social development refers to how children learn to interact with others and understand their own feelings (Denham & Brown, 2010). In Early Childhood Education, children are taught important skills like making friends and sharing. This helps children to grow into confident and to be kind individuals, who can connect well with people around them.
In Early Childhood Education programs, children spend time with other kids, which helps them learn how to build friendships. For example, when children play together in the sandbox or share toys, they practice important social skills like taking turns and being kind. Friendships at an early age make children feel happy and supported, which boosts their confidence.
Group Play: Children learn to share, take turns, and solve problems together during group activities like playing with blocks or doing crafts.
Circle Time: Children sit in a circle and share their thoughts or feelings, helping them learn to listen and communicate with others.
